Four Lesotho Nationals Arrested for Police Officer Murder in Free State

Four Lesotho nationals were arrested for the murder of Constable Justice Sephooa, who was shot at his home. According to Colonel Katlego Mogale, on January 21, two unidentified African individuals targeted Sephooa’s residence, where one opened fire, resulting in his death, before both perpetrators fled the location. The four suspects will appear in the Ficksburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face murder charges. Mogale highlighted the commendable collaboration and professionalism exhibited by the law enforcement team that ensured the suspects would be held accountable for their actions.

In a related case, four individuals were also arrested for the alleged killing of Free State police officers Constable Sipho Mohapi and Constable Gedione Motloung, who were shot while attending to a reported house robbery in Phuthaditjhaba on January 4. Marasane Kabelo Anmony, 27, a South African citizen, was detained on January 16 and has been charged with murder and robbery. Additionally, Pakiso Lethako, a 32-year-old Lesotho national, was arrested on January 15, followed by his accomplice, Lakaje Piet Thetha, aged 53, apprehended two days later.
