The Mazda EZ-6, which debuted in China on October 26, 2024, has already achieved sales of 2,445 units in November, making it one of the top-ranking mid-sized new energy sedans. This model is built on Changan’s EPA hybrid platform and is available in seven different configurations, ranging in price from 139,800 to 179,800 yuan (approximately 19,300 to 24,800 USD). The vehicle is offered in battery electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) forms, boasting significant range capabilities and advanced features.

In alignment with its expansion strategy, Mazda and its Thai division are investing 5 billion Thai baht (approximately 148.37 million USD) to bolster their manufacturing base in Thailand. With an annual production capacity of 100,000 units, the facility will primarily focus on compact SUVs for export to Japan and the ASEAN markets, as well as for local sales within Thailand. Mazda plans to introduce five electrified models by 2027, with the Mazda 6e being a key component of this plan.

Mazda is currently facing hurdles in the Chinese market, where Changan Mazda reported sales of 6,604 vehicles in January 2025, marking a year-over-year decline of 28.28%. This continuing downturn reflects broader market challenges affecting its share. In response, Changan Mazda is accelerating the shift towards electric vehicles and optimizing its gasoline-powered models through updated pricing and marketing strategies.
