The police reported that Lawal had arrived at the shopping mall in his vehicle to meet his friend, Omary Naima, a Tanzanian resident. Naima stated that after preparing tea for Lawal, she stepped out to a gaming area, and shortly after 8 AM, Lawal reportedly fell from the balcony of the mall, subsequently being pronounced dead at Entebbe Referral Hospital.

Amidst the unfolding situation and public demand for clarification, including a statement from Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, Abike Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that NiDCOM is actively monitoring developments.
