Kenya Meteorological Department Weather Forecast for February 2025

The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts predominantly dry weather across most regions from February 8 to 12, 2025, with expected showers in southwestern Kenya and specific highland areas. Significant temperature variations are anticipated, alongside advisories regarding strong winds in certain regions.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a revised weather forecast for the period spanning February 8 to February 12, 2025. Most regions in the country are anticipated to experience predominantly dry and sunny conditions. However, rainfall is expected primarily in southwestern Kenya and along the Tanzania border.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including significant areas like Nairobi and Kiambu, generally dry weather will prevail, although there may be light showers on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday afternoons. Notably, Monday evening may see enhanced rainfall, while Wednesday presents a likelihood of rain throughout the day with light morning showers and increased precipitation in the afternoon.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures in this region are expected to reach a high of 28°C, with minimum values dipping to around 10°C. The preceding three days will see slightly lower temperatures, with highs around 27°C and lows of 8°C.

For the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin, which includes counties such as Kisumu and Nakuru, residents can expect morning and afternoon showers on Saturday through Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will be characterized by cloudy weather interspersed with sunny intervals, with temperatures soaring to 31°C and lows of 09°C.

Coastal regions, particularly Mombasa and Kilifi, are projected to remain mainly dry during the daytime, experiencing some cloudiness at night. Daytime temperatures may exceed 32°C, while nighttime lows could approach 21°C.

In the southeastern lowlands—including Kitui and Makueni—rain is anticipated on Saturday through Monday, particularly in the afternoons. Partly cloudy conditions are expected during the mornings and nights, with temperatures reaching highs of 31°C and lows around 12°C.

Northeastern counties such as Marsabit and Garissa will likely enjoy sunny intervals throughout the day, with nighttime being partly cloudy. High temperatures are projected to reach 38°C, while nighttime lows may drop to 17°C.

The Director General of the Kenya Meteorological Department, Dr. David Gikungu, has advised residents in the northwestern and northeastern regions to remain vigilant due to predicted strong southeasterly winds, which may reach speeds of up to 25 knots (12.5 m/s).

The Kenya Meteorological Department’s forecast highlights that while most regions will enjoy dry and sunny weather, certain areas will experience rainfall at various times. Notable weather phenomena include significant temperatures, particularly in the northeastern regions, and advisories on prevailing winds. Residents are encouraged to stay informed as conditions may evolve.
