GFA Member Questions Police on Suspect’s Escape in Pooley’s Murder Case
Frederick Acheampong, a GFA Executive Council Member, questioned the Ghana Police Service’s investigation into the murder of Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as Pooley. He raised concerns about how prime suspect Daniel Febiri, or Braima, evaded capture while hiding at his girlfriend’s residence for two weeks. As investigation efforts continue, Braima’s girlfriend has been arrested, and Pooley’s funeral is set for March 6, 2025.
Frederick Acheampong, an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has raised serious questions concerning the Ghana Police Service’s investigation into the murder of Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as Pooley. He expressed concerns regarding the circumstances that allowed Daniel Febiri, also known as Braima, the prime suspect in the case, to escape to Senegal.
Acheampong’s frustration stems from the police’s apparent inability to locate Braima while he was reportedly hiding at his girlfriend’s residence for nearly two weeks. In a recent interview with Kessben FM, he urged law enforcement and investigative agencies to take more proactive measures to address this situation effectively.
“Reports indicate that the girlfriend concealed the prime suspect between February 4 and 17, yet the police did not get a hint. I am surprised because the police are looking for him, yet the girlfriend hid him for that long. It’s a major concern,” remarked Acheampong. He questioned how Braima could remain undetected in his girlfriend’s home for such an extended period.
Recent updates from Kotoko indicated that Braima fled to Senegal with assistance from his girlfriend, Grace Siaw. Following this revelation, it was reported that the police had arrested Braima’s girlfriend for questioning regarding her involvement in concealing the suspect’s whereabouts. Pooley’s funeral is scheduled for March 6, 2025, as the community mourns his loss.
Frederick Acheampong’s statements highlight the challenges faced by the Ghana Police Service in their ongoing investigation of Pooley’s murder, particularly regarding the suspect’s escape. His call for more diligent efforts by law enforcement reflects the community’s concern for justice. The upcoming funeral for Pooley underscores the urgency for an effective resolution to this case.
