Tragic Discovery: Severed Bodies of Nine Students Found in Mexico

In a deeply unsettling occurrence, the severed bodies of nine students, missing during a vacation in Mexico, were discovered along a local highway. The bodies, comprising four women and five men aged between 19 to 30, were found in the trunk of an abandoned vehicle and beneath a blood-stained tarp in San Jose Miahuatlan, which lies on the border of Puebla and Oaxaca.

The discovery included a bag containing eight pairs of severed hands, with two additional severed hands located within the trunk. Reports indicate that four of the bodies resided in the trunk while the remaining five were placed under the tarp. They exhibited signs of bullet wounds and torture, indicating extremely violent circumstances.

Most of the victims have been identified as Angie Lizeth, Leslie, Brenda Mariel, Jacqueline Ailet, Noemi Yamileth, Raul Emmanuel, Ruben Antonio, and Rolando Armando. These individuals, primarily students, were on vacation from Tlaxcala, having gone missing on February 27 while traveling to Oaxaca’s beaches.

A dark grey Volkswagen Vento, with license plates from Tlaxcala, was found approximately 150 miles southeast of Mexico City. Video surveillance from February 24 captured the vehicle traveling along the Atlixcayotl highway close to Atlixco, about 90 miles away from where the remains were eventually uncovered.

Given the brutality of the murders, cartel involvement is suspected, although no suspects have been formally identified at this time. Reports indicate that the ninth victim remains unidentified. The Attorney General’s Office in Puebla is working with law enforcement from Tlaxcala and Oaxaca to apprehend those responsible for these heinous acts.
