Ousainou Bojang Confirms Leaving Key Items Before Departing to Senegal
Ousainou Bojang testified regarding his departure to Senegal, confirming he left his passport and smartphone at home. His sister, Amie Bojang, retained a bag containing his passport and other documents. Evidence including financial records and personal items was submitted to the court during the trial, which revolves around the murder charges against Bojang.
Ousainou Bojang, currently on trial for the murder of two police officers, confirmed during cross-examination that he left his passport and a Techno Spark 8 smartphone at his home in Brufut Village prior to his journey to Julolom, Senegal. His testimony occurred before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh at the Banjul High Court, where he was interrogated by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), AM Yusuf.
When questioned about his smartphone, Bojang initially believed he had taken it with him but later acknowledged that it was left plugged into an electrical outlet at his residence in Brufut. Additionally, he revealed that he had left a bag containing his passport, a Gambian residential permit, and an undisclosed amount of money with his sister, Amie Bojang, who is also an accused participant in the case.
Further inquiries about his Gambia Revenue Tin Certificates indicated that while Bojang had lost one certificate, he managed to obtain a replacement utilizing his Senegalese passport. Subsequently, DPP Yusuf requested an adjournment, which the court granted without any objections.
During the proceedings, several items were admitted into evidence, including a receipt for D20,000 from Guaranteed Trust Bank Gambia Limited, alongside a black wool jacket and white shoes claimed to belong to Bojang. Legal records indicate that Amie Bojang is charged with accessory to murder under Section 202 of the Criminal Code of The Gambia.
Ousainou Bojang confirmed significant details surrounding his departure to Senegal, including the items he left behind, such as his smartphone and passport. The case progresses with adjournments and the admittance of relevant evidence, as the trial focuses on serious charges against both him and his sister, Amie Bojang, who faces accessory to murder charges.
