This station was established at Cherus Centre in Kesses, equipped with police colors, detention cells, and an office, allowing him to assert control over the area, particularly regarding unlicensed timber from Cengalo Forest.

The illegal facility went unnoticed by local officials, including the area chief. Residents were led to believe in its legitimacy due to Letting’s prior associations with prominent individuals, instilling trust among civilians. Police uncovered the operation on March 8, prompting an investigation, which highlighted that only the Inspector General of Police has the jurisdiction to authorize such establishments as per the National Police Service Act 2014.

Local authorities, including Uasin Gishu County police commander, Benjamin Mwanthi, expressed their concern over this incident. Mwanthi has assured residents that thorough investigations are underway to ascertain Letting’s motives and the security implications of this event.
