U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended a Brazilian fugitive, aged 38, wanted for armed robbery in Brazil, during an arrest in Everett, Massachusetts, on January 22. Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, stated that the fugitive posed a significant threat to public safety while hiding in Massachusetts and reaffirmed ICE’s commitment to ensuring New England does not become a refuge for criminals.
The Brazilian national initially entered the U.S. illegally on October 15, 2020, and was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol, who issued him a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. He was subsequently returned to Mexico the following day. He attempted to re-enter the U.S. illegally on April 2, 2021, leading to another arrest by Border Patrol.
