Mr. Scott, originally from Dunfermline, was last seen during a work trip to Nairobi, with his body discovered in a sack of pineapples approximately 66 miles away, leading to fears that he had been kidnapped and tortured.

According to investigators, Musembi was implicated in driving the vehicle that carried Mr. Scott’s remains from Pipeline Nairobi to Makongo Forest. Law enforcement officials stated that Musembi died by suicide while evading capture at a friend’s residence in Dandora, Nairobi, where he had locked himself in a room. His friend discovered him with a serious self-inflicted stab wound, and despite attempts to get him medical help, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Criminal Investigation Director Mohamed Amin confirmed Musembi’s death and noted that two additional suspects named Bernard Mbunga Mbusu and Alphonse Munya Kilewa are still at large. The trio had previously faced arrest for kidnapping and blackmailing a preacher, indicating a pattern of violent behavior.

Authorities have linked the suspects to Mr. Scott’s brutal murder, revealing he had arrived in Kenya to attend a business conference just days prior. Investigators believe that approximately £12,000 was stolen from Mr. Scott after his death, with a significant amount withdrawn using his bank cards before his body was found.

Police previously detained two individuals in Mombasa, about 300 miles from where Mr. Scott was last seen, who are believed to be assisting in the investigation. They allegedly attempted to use Scott’s credit cards in multiple locations including Nairobi and Mombasa. Suspect Alex Mutua was reportedly seen with Mr. Scott on the day of his disappearance, and court documents outline that he was taken to Mutua’s residence where he was murdered and disposed of in the forest.
