In a tragic event, a 45-year-old man from Zhombe, Shepherd Mavhangira, was fatally assaulted while attempting to protect bar patrons from aggression. The incident occurred in Kwekwe, Midlands province, as Mavhangira intervened when three men started throwing bricks at individuals enjoying drinks at a local bar.

Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), confirmed the incident and announced a manhunt for the suspects. Those sought include Kenias Mapfumo, Armstrong Marumahoko, and Mathias Tatenda Dhlamini, who are wanted for the murder that took place on March 13, 2025.

Nyathi detailed that the victim suffered severe injuries, having been struck numerous times with bricks, resulting in his death at the scene. The police have urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to report immediately to the nearest police station to assist in their apprehension.
