The body of a 26-year-old man, Fredrick Kiptui, has been found at the Gurusalal Water Fall in Eldama Ravine Sub County after being missing for over a week. Family members identified the remains, expressing their distress over his disappearance. Concerns emerged that Kiptui may have taken his own life following a Sh2,000 loss in betting.

Kiptui’s wife, Naomi Jelagat, recounted his unsettling last words, in which he suggested foreboding feelings about his fate. He reportedly said, “I’m not feeling well. My body will be found in the water.”

Koibatek Sub-County Police Commander Joel Chepkwony stated that Kiptui’s body showed signs of having been in water for several days, complicating the investigation into the cause of death. Currently, there are no visible injuries, which leaves open the possibility of either suicide or another cause, with investigations being conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Kiptui’s final social media message also raised eyebrows; posted just days before his discovery, he said, “I’m not feeling well today. I may sleep a little bit longer than usual; I call it eternal sleep.” This message, combined with the monetary loss from a gaming app called Aviator, suggests he may have been in emotional turmoil.

Authorities continue to explore all possible avenues as they gather more information. The body has been moved to Mercy Mission Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem that may provide important insights into the case. Meanwhile, the community remains in mourning, grappling with the tragic loss of a young life full of potential.
