In Rawalpindi, visitors to the New Kartarpura Food Street at Chandni Chowk are greeted by a unique scene featuring men in traditional Middle Eastern attire making lassi in large pots. This food street, housing around 30 eateries, offers an alternative to the crowded and historic Kartarpura Street, making it more family-friendly.

The old Kartarpura Street is known for its vibrant food culture, offering dishes such as nihari and siri paye. Lassi, served in various forms, is a staple for iftar and sahoor meals, particularly during Ramadan. Despite its popularity, congestion and crowds have led to the establishment of the New Kartarpura Food Street, which began operating under the Chandni Chowk flyover at the start of Ramadan.

Abdul Latif Rashid from Kala Khan Nihari House noted the positive public response to the food street, emphasizing its appeal for families. Additionally, organizer Raja Usama drew inspiration from Ramadan food festivals in Dubai, aiming to support small businesses and create a welcoming atmosphere.

Muhammad Hamza from Lahore 0 Kilometer reported a surge of visitors from Rawalpindi and Islamabad eager to sample their seven varieties of lassi. Referring to his attire, he expressed admiration for Arab culture, hoping to wear similar clothing in Saudi Arabia.

Visitors like Mahnoor Kareem, a Chinese language instructor, appreciate the New Kartarpura Food Street for providing a much-needed escape from the overcrowded Kartarpura, allowing families to enjoy traditional dishes. Kanwal Zahra, another vendor, showcases recipes passed down through generations, offering authentic Pakistani delicacies.

Innovative vendors like Meena Nabeel have attracted customers with momos, which gained popularity after initial hesitations. Her dumplings, praised for their filling and sauces, exemplify the evolving food landscape at the new market.
