Revolt Motors Expands Operations by Entering Nepal Market
Revolt Motors is now exporting electric motorcycles to Nepal after entering Sri Lanka last year. Plans include expanding into more markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, and West Asia. The company aims to sell 500 units annually in Nepal while continuing to enhance production capacity and partnerships to support its growing operations.
Revolt Motors has expanded its operations by exporting electric motorcycles to Nepal, following its successful entry into Sri Lanka last year. The company aims to also venture into three other markets in Africa, Southeast Asia, and West Asia in the upcoming financial year, as stated by Anjali Rattan, Chairperson of RattanIndia Enterprises, the promoter of Revolt Motors. Furthermore, plans are in place to export to Mexico and establish assembly plants in various regions, including Africa and Mexico.
In 2024, Nepal recorded a sales figure of approximately 170,000 two-wheelers, with electric vehicle penetration being less than 4 percent. Among them, scooters represented 37 percent of total sales, and Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) hold a 45 percent share in this segment. “Indian products are more preferred in Nepal than any other country,” highlighted Ms. Rattan.
Revolt Motors will export its complete lineup of electric motorcycles, including the RV400, RV400 BRZ, RV1, RV1+, and RV BlazeX. The company is also establishing a solid after-sales service network for its customers. To facilitate this, Revolt has partnered with the MV Dugar Group, launching its flagship Revolt Hub in Kathmandu in April, along with plans to open 15 showrooms across major cities within three to four months.
According to Ms. Rattan, “Nepal is a key strategic market,” propelled by its focus on clean energy and increasing demand for sustainable transport. The country’s unique geography makes motorcycles an ideal mode of transportation, thus offering a prime opportunity for Revolt’s efficient electric motorcycles. The initial goal is to achieve an annual volume of 500 units in Nepal, beginning with the first consignment this week.
Regarding manufacturing, Rattan explained that the existing plant in Manesar, Haryana, has a capacity of around 180,000 units per year, which is adequate for current production levels of approximately 35,000 units annually. In February, Revolt managed to sell 760 units domestically, marking a year-on-year growth of 58 percent compared to 480 units sold in the same month last year. The company is also exploring the opportunity to establish new facilities in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu or Karnataka within the next 18 months. Other electric two-wheeler manufacturers, such as Ather, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor, and Ultraviolet, also export to neighboring countries.
Revolt Motors is extending its reach into Nepal, following its strategic entry into Sri Lanka. The company’s plans include exporting a diverse range of electric motorcycles and developing its infrastructure through local partnerships. With a growing demand for sustainable mobility and a clear target in the Nepalese market, Revolt is well-positioned for successful expansion in the region.
