Two residential buildings in the Dnipro district were affected by falling debris from the drones, which also led to a fire on the upper levels of a nine-story building, resulting in one civilian fatality. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, condemned the attack, stating, “Today, the Russians are once again demonstrating their ‘desire for peace.’ In reality, terrorists are simply launching deadly weapons at residential buildings.”

This drone strike occurred shortly before scheduled ceasefire negotiations set to take place in Saudi Arabia, involving U.S. and Ukrainian officials. Led by Andrew Peek of the National Security Council and Michael Anton from the State Department, the discussions aim to facilitate dialogue between the parties involved.

Following their meeting with Ukrainian representatives, U.S. officials are scheduled to engage with Russian officials in Saudi Arabia. While Ukrainian officials are expected to attend these talks, they will not share a room with their Russian counterparts. Reports suggest that the Ukrainian delegation will present a list of critical energy infrastructure deemed off-limits for military strikes.

Moreover, discussions among Russian and U.S. experts are anticipated to address measures to ensure the safety of maritime shipping in the Black Sea. Both President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine have previously acknowledged a partial ceasefire concerning civilian and energy infrastructure. However, there have been reciprocal accusations of breaches regarding this accord.
