According to investigative reports, prior to her disappearance, Konanki was observed walking along the beach with her companions; however, most of the group returned to their hotel, leaving one friend with her until early morning. Dominican authorities are investigating this friend, alongside a young man who claimed to be in the water with her during the incident.

He initially stated that he fell ill from the rough surf, leaving Konanki in the water while he returned to shore but later mentioned he lost consciousness on the beach. Security footage reportedly showed him returning to his hotel shortly before 10 a.m.

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has also assured that all friends of Konanki have been accounted for, emphasizing the ongoing determination to find her safely. Konanki is a legal permanent U.S. resident originally from India, and she is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes.
