The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal moon, indicating that Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. The announcement was made by the committee chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, on Sunday, following credible testimonies regarding the moon sighting from cities such as Islamabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Gujranwala.
Maulana Azad stated, “After verifying the testimonies, it was unanimously decided that Eid ul-Fitr will be observed on March 31.” The committee had convened earlier in Islamabad, bringing together a group of religious scholars, meteorologists, and representatives from SUPARCO (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission).
Experts had indicated that the Shawwal moon was born on Saturday at 3:59 PM and would be over 25 hours old by sunset on Sunday, allowing it to be visible to the naked eye. This announcement ushers in nationwide celebrations for Eid ul-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
