Nigerian Police Successfully Extradite Fugitive Benjamin “Killaboi” Nnayereugo

The Nigeria Police Force has extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as “Killaboi,” from Qatar to face charges for the murder of Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. His extradition involved global collaboration across multiple agencies, following an INTERPOL Red Notice. Nnayereugo had fled Nigeria after the crime and was apprehended in Qatar through advanced biometrics.

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar. This operation was announced on Saturday, April 19, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. Nnayereugo had been evading capture for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a case that garnered significant attention.

Nnayereugo had fled across six countries before he was identified in Qatar. The extradition involved concerted efforts from various bodies, including the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL NCB, and Qatari authorities, alongside Femi Falana’s chambers, which assisted in tracking him down.

The case against Nnayereugo dates back to July 13, 2023, when he allegedly murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a distinguished first-class student from Lead City University, at his residence in Lagos. Following the crime and his subsequent flight from Nigeria, he released an online video falsely claiming guilt to mislead investigators.

After being designated a wanted person by the Lagos State Police on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his arrest. Nnayereugo was initially apprehended in Sierra Leone but escaped custody, leading him to travel under various aliases, ultimately reaching Qatar on January 24, 2025.

The cooperation between INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB Doha was pivotal in confirming his identity through advanced biometrics. Following his arrest in February 2025 by Qatari authorities, the extradition was formalized with their judicial system’s approval, allowing him to return to Nigeria.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the efforts of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and acknowledged the collaboration between nations in combating transnational crime. He assured the public of the police force’s commitment to providing a thorough prosecution for Nnayereugo as part of their dedication to justice and safety for all citizens.
