Tragic Incident in Niger: Hoodlums Kill Bank Driver and Assault Activist
A bank driver, Mohammed Abo’ore, was killed by hoodlums in Niger State after he volunteered to assist vigilantes in apprehending cannabis users. The police confirmed his stabbing and one suspect’s arrest while another assault incident involving activist Nura Yarima has led to further arrests and investigations.
In an unfortunate incident in Fadikpe, a neighborhood of Minna, Niger State, hoodlums have tragically killed a bank driver, Mohammed Abo’ore. Abo’ore had volunteered to support local vigilantes in apprehending individuals suspected of using an abandoned building for cannabis smoking. During the encounter, he was stabbed with scissors and succumbed to his injuries at the Minna General Hospital after being transported there.
The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, relayed details of the incident confirming that the vigilante group acted upon receiving reports of miscreants in the area. An arrest operation was initiated when Abo’ore volunteered to assist, but during this effort, he was attacked by an individual identified as Nura Buhari, who subsequently fled the scene. Furthermore, Abdullahi Rabiu, another suspect involved, has been apprehended and is currently assisting the authorities in their ongoing pursuit of additional suspects.
In a separate event, public affairs commentator Nura Yarima reported an assault by individuals identified as Mansir Kabir, Abubakar, Hamza, and Abu. This attack occurred in a shop within a plaza along Bosso road, where Yarima sustained significant injuries. The police have since arrested Mansir Kabir and are conducting an investigation to apprehend the other suspects involved in this violent incident.
These incidents highlight the rising violence involving hoodlums in Niger State, particularly against community members who attempt to intervene in criminal activities. The local police are actively pursuing investigations and apprehensions of those involved in both attacks, showcasing their commitment to addressing such violent crimes and ensuring community safety.
