Detectives managed to trace Kuria’s movements by monitoring his conversations with other suspects already detained. A source familiar with the case stated, “We were monitoring his communications and knew he was trying to leave the country.” Kuria was arrested at a lodging facility in Isebania along with another unidentified individual, who is now also in custody.

With Kuria’s arrest, the total number of detained suspects in connection with this assassination has climbed to eleven. Among the others already in custody are Were’s personal bodyguard, Allan Omondi, and driver, Walter Owino, as well as William Imoli, who allegedly played a crucial role in organizing the assassination. Authorities are also investigating prominent figures, including businessman Phillip Aroko and Lake Basin Development Authority Director Ebel Ochieng, thought to have financially contributed to this tragic plot.

In addition, investigators are meticulously analyzing financial transactions and communication among the suspects to unravel the deeper motivations behind the assassination. Charles Ong’ondo Were was laid to rest on Friday in his home village of Kachien, situated within his Kasipul constituency.
