Nagbe Calls for Police Investigation into Allegations Following Cletus Noah’s Death
Lenn Eugene Nagbe requests an investigation into Cletus Noah’s death, following troubling allegations against him. The former aide to the ex-Finance Minister died on May 4, stirring significant controversy and public interest. Nagbe’s concerns over personal safety and reputation have prompted him to seek clarity from the police.
The recent death of Cletus Noah, a former aide to ex-Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, has prompted a call for a police investigation in Liberia. Lenn Eugene Nagbe, Chief of Office Staff for former President George M. Weah, has formally requested that the Inspector General of Police, Col. Gregory Coleman, investigate the circumstances surrounding Noah’s untimely demise, which occurred on May 4, 2025.
In his letter dated May 8, Nagbe expressed alarm at allegations linking him to Noah’s death, amid ongoing corruption trials involving Tweah. Despite denying any misconduct during his tenure, the allegations have stirred concern. Nagbe notes in the letter, “I write to formally request a preliminary investigation to establish the existence of foul play, if any, into the recent death of Mr. Cletus Noah, who reportedly passed away on May 4, 2025.”
Adding to the confusion, Nagbe conveyed that on May 7, he received unsettling WhatsApp messages from Tozo, Noah’s brother. In those messages, Tozo allegedly accused Nagbe, Tweah, and others of being involved in Noah’s death, and even issued a personal threat. He warned Nagbe, “wait for the burial,” implying further actions would follow.
Nagbe has taken these accusations seriously, attaching evidence including screenshots of the conversations in his correspondence to the police. “These allegations are both serious and damaging, not only to my reputation but also present a threat to my personal safety and security,” he said.
In a bid to clear his name, Nagbe urged the Liberia National Police to reach out to Tozo to investigate the claims further. “To ensure that the truth is established and to dispel any misinformation or suspicion, I formally request that the police conduct a preliminary investigation into the death of Mr. Cletus Noah,” he stressed.
The shocking nature of Cletus Noah’s death has reverberated throughout the political landscape in Liberia, eliciting heartfelt tributes from his colleagues and political figures. He was reportedly hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Monrovia just before his death, causing widespread emotional responses from both governmental and opposition members.
Nagbe, who previously served as Commissioner General of the Liberia Maritime Authority, has assured law enforcement of his full cooperation in the investigation as they seek to clarify the situation surrounding Noah’s death and the ensuing accusations.
