Both suspects have since been brought back to Nairobi.

Now, the total number of individuals in custody related to the assassination rises to eleven. Investigators are also looking into several high-profile figures, including businessman and politician Phillip Aroko and Ebel Ochieng, director of the Lake Basin Development Authority, who are suspected of having financial ties to the plot.

Tragically, Were was laid to rest on Friday in his rural home in Kachien village, part of his constituency, as the community mourns his loss.
