The opposition coalition known as the INDIA bloc is preparing to voice its concerns as Parliament’s Monsoon Session approaches. In a virtual meeting, involving 24 political parties, they highlighted significant issues such as the alarming Pahalgam terror attack, security concerns, and ongoing debates about electoral integrity tied to the SIR in Bihar. The bloc aims to present a united front in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, and they expect Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be in attendance to respond to inquiries related to these pressing matters.

During the virtual gathering, prominent leaders from various parties were in attendance including Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge from the Congress party, as well as notable figures from the Samajwadi Party, TMC, Shiv Sena, NCP, and others. The consensus reached was to target eight key matters, which not only involve pressing national security issues but also encompass what they term the escalating threat to voting rights posed by the Election Commission’s revision initiative in Bihar. According to Congress deputy leader Pramod Tiwari, the meeting was productive and demonstrated cooperation among the parties, stressing that the Pahalgam incident is particularly crucial due to its implications for national dignity and security.

Tiwari expressed apprehension regarding the government’s responses or lack thereof, particularly in terms of security failures that allowed such incidents to happen, referencing the Pahalgam attack.
