Prior to his death, Musembi had been hiding with a relative and later stayed overnight at a friend’s home. Upon the friend’s return from work, he found Musembi unconscious and attempted to assist him by taking him to Mama Lucy Hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was redirected to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he succumbed shortly thereafter.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin announced that an autopsy would be performed to ascertain the exact cause of Musembi’s death. Musembi was one of three individuals sought in connection with Scott’s murder, with two other suspects already in custody aiding the investigation, while one suspect remains at large and has a prior criminal history dating back to 2018.

Authorities have stated that Scott was believed to have been taken to Mutua’s home in Pipeline, where he was allegedly killed. Following the murder, the suspects attempted to use Scott’s credit cards in different locations before their arrest on March 1 on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, and police continue to seek one additional suspect connected to this case.
