Tata.ev has successfully launched its electric vehicle lineup in Mauritius, introducing three models: Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev. This event marks a significant milestone as Mauritius becomes the first nation outside of the SAARC region to feature Tata’s electric portfolio, following the prior introduction in Sri Lanka.
The Tata Punch EV is available in three variants – Smart, Adventure, and Empowered – along with multiple sub-variants. It offers two battery pack options of 25 kWh and 35 kWh, with respective ranges of 265 km and 365 km. Furthermore, the Punch EV has been awarded a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP.
The Nexon EV has seen an update as it now comes with a 45 kWh battery, phasing out the previous 40 kWh version. It boasts an impressive charging capability, reaching 80% in less than one hour and offers a driving range of between 350 km and 375 km. The Tiago EV has also been refreshed, featuring a 24 kWh battery and a range of 190 km to 210 km.
These vehicles are backed by notable warranties, featuring an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for the battery and motor, as well as a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty for the vehicle itself. Additionally, customers will receive a complimentary 7.2 kW home charging wall box.
Yash Khandelwal, Head of International Business at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed enthusiasm for this expansion, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce our electric vehicle portfolio in Mauritius, marking our first international expansion beyond the SAARC region. With the government’s strong commitment to sustainable mobility, Mauritius holds strategic importance in our EV journey.” He further mentioned, “As a pioneer of the EV revolution in India and a proven success in SAARC markets, TATA.ev is well-positioned to support the country’s transition to electric mobility. Our diverse range of EVs-spanning multiple body styles and battery options-combined with an unmatched ownership experience and the strong partnership of Allied Motors, sets the stage for a transformative shift in Mauritius’ automotive landscape.”
In conclusion, Tata.ev’s recent launch of electric vehicles in Mauritius signifies a strategic expansion into international markets beyond the SAARC region. The introduction of the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev emphasizes the company’s commitment to promote sustainable mobility. With extensive warranties and strong government support in Mauritius, Tata is well-prepared to transform the automotive sector in this region.
