Niger State Police Arrest Two Burglars and Sheep Thief in Recent Operations

Niger State Police have successfully apprehended two burglars attempting to rob a residence in Minna, the state capital. The suspects, identified as 43-year-old Musa Audu and 45-year-old Abdullahi Garba, both hailing from the Kwangila area of Minna, broke into a home through a window. They are reported to have stolen a plasma television, a remote control, and two aluminium pots.

According to sources from Arewa PUNCH, the pair had just begun to load their stolen items into a sack when observant neighbors intervened. These vigilant residents prompted the police to respond quickly, leading to the seizure of the suspects before they could escape.

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun provided additional details on the incident. He stated that the burglary occurred on April 30, 2025, around 11:45 AM, when police presence in the area was notably low. Abiodun outlined that the suspects gained entry through a window, taking significant possessions from the targeted home in the Brighter Area.

In his remarks during a conversation with Arewa PUNCH, Abiodun confirmed, “The items were concealed in sack bags, but the suspects were later arrested through the help of the community members. They are currently under investigation at Chanchaga Division and will face prosecution soon.”

In another related case, police have also arrested Danrani Usman, a 32-year-old from Gengi village in Ibeto, for the theft of 50 sheep. Authorities reported that Usman implicated an accomplice named Isah, who remains at large. The sheep were allegedly stolen from Yangalu village with the assistance of this accomplice.

Abiodun communicated that on April 27, 2025, at approximately 9:00 AM, police operatives from ‘B’ Div Kontagora, working alongside local vigilantes, apprehended Usman with the stolen livestock. He confessed to the crime during questioning, revealing the identity of Isah, who is currently evading capture.

Ongoing efforts are being made to locate and apprehend Isah, as investigations into cattle rustling continue in the region, according to the police spokesperson.
