Free Healthcare Initiative Aims to Benefit Local Community

On June 27, 2025, at Buhuka Health Center III in Kikuube, Uganda, a significant medical outreach unfolded as a Chinese medical team provided free healthcare services. The ivory-clad professionals, comprising cardiologists, pediatricians, surgeons, acupuncture specialists and public health experts all hailing from the 24th Chinese medical team, arrived more than 300 kilometers from Kampala to serve villagers in this remote region. Joining forces with over 20 local Ugandan medical workers, this initiative brought much-needed medical assistance to a community that often struggles with limited access to healthcare facilities.

Local Villagers Express Gratitude for Medical Care

As the sun rose, local resident Jennifer Nyangoma eagerly awaited her turn for treatment. She expressed gratitude for the acupuncture therapy suggested by the doctors, a remedy she hoped would alleviate her ongoing joint and back pain. With similar sentiments echoing in the words of another villager, Evelyn Atuhura, who arrived with her children, the camp fostered hope and care, demonstrating the positive impact of this collaboration.

Hu Weijie, the acting president of CNOOC Uganda Limited, underscored the commitment to residents’ health amidst infrastructural developments, affirming that such initiatives are vital for the community’s well-being and development.
