Police Recover Stolen Truck Full of Cement
Police in Niger State have successfully recovered a stolen truck, which was reported to be carrying around 900 bags of cement. The police command revealed that three suspects have been arrested concerning the incident. The announcement was made by the command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, who provided details in an official statement released on Thursday in Minna. The stolen vehicle was reportedly en route from Okpella in Edo State to deliver the cement to a customer in Gwagwalada, Abuja when it was taken.
Details of the Theft and Recovery Process
According to Mr. Abiodun, the theft occurred on June 21 when the truck driver temporarily left the vehicle unattended to have lunch at a restaurant. The driver reported that while he was away, the truck was swiftly removed from its parked location. Upon learning of the situation, the truck manager coordinated with law enforcement, which helped trace the vehicle to a site in the Lambata area, where police successfully recovered it that evening. Remarkably, all 900 bags of cement were still intact at the recovery point.
Arrests Made and Investigation Underway
The three arrested individuals include Bashir Isah, 22; Ibrahim Yusuf, 21; and Halidu Mohammed, 28, all from the Gbamita area of Lambata. Following their apprehension, each suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, indicating their plans to resell the stolen cement. In light of these developments, the police have commenced a thorough investigation to unravel further details surrounding the theft and any potential accomplices involved in the criminal act.
In summary, the Niger State police have made significant progress by recovering a stolen truck laden with 900 bags of cement and arresting three suspects. The swift response of law enforcement, aided by proper communication from the truck owner, facilitated the recovery.
